The Difference Between Hot, Warm and Cold Data

Apache Druid PMC Chair and Imply co-founder Gian Merlino classifies data into three different temperatures (Hot, Warm, and Cold). Hot data is for analysts who need their data to be subsecond/ high concurrency to help them answer real-time questions. Cold data commonly sits in your data warehouse and is used for reporting and planning. And warm data is a balance between the two.
