Real-time telemetry at IoT scale

Rivian makes adventurous electric vehicles with a mission of having a sustainable planet and keeping the world adventurous forever. Rivian’s vehicles are born in the cloud and embody the tenets of a software defined vehicle, where not only the user visible features such as infotainment are software driven and updated, but also aspects of Vehicle dynamics and control. Real-time instrumentation and telemetry are the key underpinnings that make all of this possible. Rivian has built a cutting edge Real-time stack with Druid as one of the core components. In this talk we will go through the role of Druid in our real-time architecture along with the use cases it enables. Furthermore, beyond being a user of Druid, we maintain a fork and have made improvements to scale and performance that address our needs, such as Real-time ingestion throughput improvements (https://github.com/apache/druid/pull/13982), which will be part of the talk as well.
