From Code to Connections: Druid Summit 2024 is Live & In-Person This October

October is already a magical month (in my opinion) but this year, it will be even more magical. Druid Summit will take place on October 22nd, 2024 and better yet, it will be live and in person this year!

Join the Imply team and your fellow developers, engineers, and data architects at this one-day conference at the Grand Bay Hotel San Francisco. This is your opportunity to learn all about new and upcoming Apache Druid features, the latest ecosystem integrations and best practices and the latest on Imply products built from Druid. There will also be hands-on workshops, opportunities to chat with expert Druid users, and of course, hang out with your fellow Druid community members.

Why live—and why now?

The in-person Druid Summit has been in the works for quite some time. It was originally going to debut in 2020 but like most things that year, it had to be canceled. After several successful virtual Druid Summits and Druid Summit On the Road that swept across the globe, it was time to resurrect the in-person version.

Since its founding, the Apache Druid community has grown to thousands of members, including committers, tinkerers, hobbyists, and professionals alike. In a world where a lot of us are remote workers or are part of distributed teams, Druid Summit provides an opportunity for people to get together to talk Druid, explore new skills, discuss use cases, and get to know each other.

For Druid Summit 2024, we wanted to return to where it all started: San Francisco, CA. The Grand Bay Hotel San Francisco is just a short cab (or train) ride away from San Francisco International Airport and close proximity to the Bay Area for the locals joining us for the day.

Get on Track!

The lineup for Druid Summit 2024 is stacked! Some of the organizations presenting their Druid use cases and insights are, streaming giant Netflix, who will be discussing Optimizing Druid Configurations through Parallel Testing and Metrics Analysis and CRM pioneer Salesforce, showcasing how they are Tracing Service Dependencies at Scale with Druid and Flink. But those are just a couple of examples from a truly top tier speaker lineup! Check out the full agenda to see all the speakers and sessions!

In addition, there will also be panel discussions on topics from stream processing to deployment and of course, keynotes from Apache Druid PMC chairs on how far Druid has come as a database and what comes next.

To help you plan your own personal agenda, we’ve organized the talks around four key themes:

  • Deployment and operations will cover ways to deploy Druid, such as through Kubernetes  and explore best practices for stabilizing and optimizing the performance of your Druid environment
  • Streaming will discuss both ingestion through Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis, as well as processing data via Apache Flink
  • Lakehouse will include data lakes and related technologies, such as Apache Iceberg and Delta lake, and how they interface with Druid
  • User experience (UX) will examine different options for interacting with data, such as Imply Pivot, Grafana, and Superset

And after all the sessions have ended, there will be an afterparty for all attendees to eat, drink, and have a little fun after an intense day of learning! More on that as we get closer to the event.
We look forward to seeing you at the very first Druid Summit on October 22, 2024. To get your tickets—and take advantage of the early bird discount—click here.
