We’re excited to announce that Imply Polaris, our fully managed real-time analytics database, is now available on Microsoft Azure. Polaris brings powerful analytics capabilities right to your fingertips. Built on Apache Druid®, the popular open source database for real-time analytics, Polaris is designed for quick deployment, effortless scaling, and delivering actionable insights from both streaming and batch data.
Polaris simplifies deploying and managing clusters, data ingestion, query execution, and dashboard building—and is now seamlessly integrated with the Azure ecosystem. Polaris supports a wide range of applications, including IoT, observability, fraud detection, clickstream analysis, and more. With auto-scaling, comprehensive infrastructure management, and built-in visualization tools, Polaris ensures that your data analytics are both secure and resilient.
Seamless Data Delivery and Processing
Polaris integrates smoothly with Azure PaaS services such as Azure Event Hub, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Data Lake Storage v2, as well as streaming platforms like self-hosted Kafka and Confluent Cloud on Azure. In addition, Polaris is natively compatible with stream processors like Apache Flink and Apache Spark.
This ensures that Polaris can fit seamlessly into a new (or existing) data pipeline or architecture, as illustrated in the diagram below.
With dedicated connectors for Azure streaming and batch sources, data ingestion is straightforward and efficient. Once ingested, data is immediately available for querying and visualization, allowing you to build comprehensive dashboards and reports using Polaris’s built-in tools (via Imply Pivot) or third-party integrations like Tableau and Grafana.
Advanced security and resilience
Security is a top priority with Polaris. All data at rest is encrypted with AES-256, and data in transit is protected with HTTPS and TLSv1.2. Private networking options, including integration with Azure Private Link, ensure that your data remains within secure cloud boundaries.
Polaris leverages Azure’s highly available services, such as Azure Blob Storage and geo-redundant services, to guarantee data availability. Compute resources are deployed across multiple Availability Zones, ensuring high availability and resilience. Built-in access control enables organizations to manage user and API access to Polaris resources.
Optimized performance and scalability
Polaris projects run in dedicated Kubernetes namespaces, with resource limits to ensure dedicated compute and storage resources. The ingestion process auto-scales according to data volume, optimizing resource utilization and cost efficiency. You only pay for the data you ingest, with Polaris dynamically scaling resources to meet your needs.
With predefined project shapes and SKUs, Polaris allows you to select the appropriate compute and storage capacities based on your specific use case, data volume, and retention requirements.
